You can leave the feathery styles attached. Each feathery style is attached to one seed. The seed is 3-4 mm long, semi-glossy, and henna to dark henna to dark- purple brown.

You can also take cuttings in October, when the Clematis is in flower, allowing you to determine the sex of the plants. Stem cuttings with a node at both the base and the top are the most successful. You can also use tip and internodal cuttings. Cuttings can be difficult to root.
