Seed Comments |
The pod opens at the beak end to release the seeds. The seed pod is quite unusual, and consists of two valves. The seeds are 2-3 mm long, and orange-brown to dark henna or dark red-brown. Sometimes, the seeds are mottled with black. You should put fresh seeds in hot (50C) water, cover, and let stand for 12-24 hours. Then, mix seeds with moist seed-sowing mix and leave them out for another 24 hours before sowing. For stored seed, the water temperature should be 70-90C, and leave them in it for 48 hours.

Comments |
Tear off a piece of the branch, so that it comes away with the heel. Don't tidy up the heel, just trim the ragged string bits at the end of the lower heel. You can also try semi-hardwood, taken in the spring or autumn, rooting within 30-70 days, with a 75% strike rate.
