Seed Comments
The seed takes 12 months or more to ripen on the tree, and seeds can be collected much later than spring. The red aril surrounds the seed, and when ripe, it gradually releases it as the aril dries. Although you can dry store, it is better to sow fresh. You might improve the germination rate by soaking the seed for 8 hours. The seed can be sown without removing the fleshy aril. Alternatively, you can crack the brown cases, being careful not to damage the seed. Prone to weevil attack.
