This reserve is named in recognition of Owen's many years as chairman of the Trust. When the Trust purchased this block, plans were well ahead to clearfell much of this tawa and podocarp forest for pasture. Of special interest are large pukatea trees and a variety of birdlife. Protection also assists water clarity in local streams and rivers. |
