Drainage

50 Whataroa + Raw Soil

Is your soil drainage restricted or unrestricted ?

Notes:
Restricted - soil wet or moist all of time because of high water table (<0.3m deep in winter) and/or fine texture (clay or silt).

Unrestricted - soil is never saturated or wet because it is coarse-textured (loamy, sandy or stoney) and the water table is deep (>0.3m below surface in winter).

Some soils - especially human modified ones (Anthropic soils) - may have other restrictions to plant growth such as toxins, compaction, stripped topsoil, hardfill, or methane generation over old landfill sites. These conditions need to be accounted for when chosing plants for restoration.
