Weed Ecology Workshop
Landcare Research is hosting a weed ecology workshop at the Quality Hotel, Palmerston North on the the 16th of October 2003.

If you are interested in: interactions between humans and weeds, likely future weed scenarios for NZ, the role of silver eyes in weed dispersal, sneaky ways gorse and broom seed can be unwittingly spread about, the wilding conifer conundrum, how weeds can change under pressure from herbicides, what willows are doing to our native fauna, the impact of old man's beard at Taihape, and the new Weedbusters initiative, then this is the day for you! As well as an opportunity to meet famous researchers you will also be able to meet and talk to other like-minded people.

The workshop is free of charge and morning and afternoon tea will be provided. Numbers are limited to 70.

NZERN National Conference
Final Conference publicity has been completed. The invitations to Wellington groups are being posted out Monday 29 September.

Pipi Update
The Pipi 2003-2004 Development Plan has been edited and awaits final publication. It will go to the printers this week and a copy posted out to everyone who registered on-line for a copy.

A big thank you to Edith Jones for several days of work tidying up speling and grammar errors.

Website
A user survey is currently being tested. It has been designed by Market Truths pro bono for NZERN.

When testing is finished, everyone who visits www.bush.org.nz will be asked to do the survey about what they think of the website.

The results will be presented to the National Conference in November.

Restoration Directory
The Auckland-Tamaki Makaurau Restoration Directory will be published by the Bush Telly Trust this week. It will then be mailed out widely to the Auckland region.

Restoration Day
A sucessful Canterbury Restoration day was held on Otamahua/Quail Island yesterday. In wettish conditions, 51 travelled to the Island. Everyone had an excellent time.

A fuller report will be placed on the website.

A thank you to the excellent speakers: Colin Burrows, Heln Braithwaite, Mike Bowie, Rob McCaw, Colin Meurk, Ian Dimigan, and Ian Hill.

Simon Johnson organised the day with the help of Alison Ross and Ryan Young.

Three cheers for the BBQ chef Tracey Peters who kept everyone warm with a great BBQ. The BBQ food was sponsored by Banks Peninsula District Council.
