23/03/2003

An NZERN Southland Newsletter has been printed and is being mailed to the local network this week. Its also available on the web at http://www.bush.org.nz/region/southland.html

and as a word download at
http://www.bush.org.nz/download/6.html

Local reps Chris Rance & Gay Munro intend to produce this newsletter twice a year to help keep the local network in touch.

23/03/2003
Pipi Update
Multi language capability has been added to Pipi as part of the new web forums being set up. Various languages have been catered for including English, Maori, Italian, French, German. More languages will follow in the future. If you can help with translation for your language, can you please contact the office. You will be sent a list of 100 words to translate.

23/03/2003
NZERN Office
The NZERN Office is closed this week and will reopen Friday 28th March.

Website
Do you have a bit of bush or wetland you are looking out for?

Are you a farmer ? ... involved in a community project ? ... maybe your hapu has a natural area you want to see in a better state ? ...do you look after a council reserve as part of your job? ... Maybe a crib on Stewart Island?

If you want to be able to edit publicly available information about your restoration site and you havn't done so yet, please contact the office by email or phone. We need to get your details and the name of the restoration site. You can then be given editing rights. (You must already have a valid user password).

23/03/2003
Website
Future planning is under-way to make Pipi easier for you the users. The web site and password area is to be modified to make it easier for people with different needs.

1. Who have difficulty seeing the words and so turn fonts sizes up much larger.

2. Who use a text reader that uses the computer speakers to read out loud what's on the web site.

3. Have difficulty with some colour combinations.

4. Other challenges.

A potential solution to this is to have alternate web site versions available. You, the user would choose how you wanted the information presented and you could change your choice at anytime. This could also cater for people using different browsers including a cell phone to browse the web and others who have a fast internet connection and want all the bells and whistles.

So speak up - we need your suggestions.

Your ideas will get included into the Pipi 4 upgrade.
