1. NZERN NEWS
20 people are now helping test
the new NZERN members-only website accessed with their passwords. Some great
suggestions have been received resulting in a lot of improvements to the
ease of use. As a result, progress has been a little slower than expected,
but in the long run will save a lot of time and make it as easy to use as
possible.
Some people want pop-up forms and others want the forms on the
main web pages. Both options are being provided for. Some experimentation
has been done with older members who have poorer eyesite and who like
everything on the screen really big! - We have now got that nailed as well.
Some people have found some of the names for different sections a little
confusing. So some new names have been dreamed up that better describe
purpose (Thanks for all the suggestions). The personal calendar now only
shows the comming events that someone wants to be notified about.
It is
also possible to add lots of clever code to the web pages to achieve these
aims, however this greatly increases the size of the web pages and adversly
affects many of our members with snail pace dial-up who live in rural areas.
Our aim is to make the web pages as small and simple as possible.
Many
more members will get their passwords later this week as testing proceeds.
None of this testing and tweaking will take very long, and everyones help,
patience and written feedback is very much appreciated.
You can get a bit
of an idea of whats what at
