Open Polytechnic Courses available Author Rhys Taylor Prior Publication The Bush Telegraph Copyright NZERN Two distance-learning courses on native plants and wetland habitats are available from
TOPNZ for home study, spread over 12 months from your choice of enrolment date.
Each comprising 8 sections, they are described in booklets available by mail from
FREEphone 0800 507 333.
NZ Native Plants covers: their importance, ecology, protection, growing, planting and
re-vegetation, uses (both crops and other) and where to obtain further information. Bruce
Treeby is revising this course soon, after several years good experience. He reports
it has been valued by people working in horticulture, conservation, teaching and tourism.
Course fee including materials $195.
NZ wetlands covers: an overview, types of wetlands, major NZ wetlands, ecology, management
including waterfowl, creating and restoring wetlands, and protection. The course fee is
