NZERN Establishment Plan Author Mike Peters and Matthew Carter Prior Publication The Bush Telegraph After much discussion over the past two years, and unofficial existence for more than a
year, NZERN is about to come into existence as a formal body. The first step is what we're
doing in this issue:
Circulate the Establishment Plan and the proposed constitution among Regional
Representatives, Advisory Panel members and NZERN Officers, and to NZERN members through
Kereru and the Bush Telegraph.
The next steps will be:
- Make any minor amendments to the constitution resulting from feedback.
- Have the constitution reviewed by a lawyer to ensure it satisfies the requirements to
apply to become an incorporated society.
- Hold a meeting on 4 May to found NZERN formally. At this meeting:
- The constitution will be proposed for adoption.
- The initial membership roll will be proposed for adoption.
- The current officers of the Addington Bush Society and the current Regional
Representatives will be nominated as initial officers of NZERN.
- A date will be set for the formal meeting needed to approve NZERN applying to become an
incorporated society.
- Hold a meeting to approve applying to become an incorporated society. (This meeting and
the following one are solely to meet the formal requirements of the Companies Office and
are expected to be very brief.)
- Hold a meeting to:
- Ratify the decision to apply for incorporation.
- Set a date for the first AGM.
- Lodge an application for incorporation with the Companies Office.
- Apply to the IRD for charitable status.
(Note: once charitable status has been approved, relevant funds will be transferred from
the Addington Bush Society Incorporated to NZERN.)
- Call for remits and nominations for the first AGM.
- Hold the AGM, proposed for 30 September 2000 in Christchurch.
Then full steam ahead! Keywords NZERN
