The Christchurch City Council’s Water Services Unit has a variety of resources you may find useful or of interest. One of these is the Streamside Planting Guide. This colourful guide contains wonderful information on how and what to plant. It is especially useful if you live next to a waterway.. The guide even contains a typical stream cross section which shows where the plants are supposed to grow. Remember if you use the species indicated select those grown from local seed stock. This is because they will be the ones best suited to local conditions and you will be helping to preserve local biodiversity. The Streamside Planting Guides are free. Call in to the Christchurch City Council or phone Martin Lukes, (03) 371 1485, for a copy.
