Tax laws for charities changing soon

Author
Tania Guenter

November 2007

Tax laws for charities change on 1 July 2008. Charities need to be registered with the Charities Commission by this date in order to remain eligible for charitable-purpose tax exemptions.

It currently takes at least fourteen weeks for straightforward applications to be processed, with the queue of waiting applications growing every day, so it's best to get your application in now.

For more information and to download application forms or apply online visit www.charities.govt.nz, or call the Commission's free information line - 0508 242 748.
