Programme

9.30am Welcome by Chris Rance. Chris will explain her work at the Southland Community Nursery and how it lead to her involvement with the New Zealand Ecological Restoration Network.

10.00am Mike Peters, initiator of NZERN explains the history and focus of this organisation, and where to from here !!

10.30am Come walkabout with Brian Rance around a restoration area that has been progressive over the last 5 years. Look at native options for shelter belt and riparian plantings. Hear about wetland creation from Mark Sutton, Southland Fish & Game.

Noon Lunch provided.

1.00pm Hear about protection options from Gay Munro, Queen Elizabeth II National Trust and about restoration work being undertaken in Southland covenants.

1.30pm  3.00pm Pests a problem ? Graeme Miller, Department of Conservation, will talk about controlling pest plants and Nick Rosewarne, Envirosouth, will cover the animal pest subject.

3.00pm  3.30pm Need more information ? Learn your way around the NZERN website at www.bush.org.nz - Mike Peters will show you how.

3.30pm Afternoon tea.

You are welcome to join us at any stage of the day, but please let us know if you will be attending the lunch for catering purposes.
