NZERN National Conference. 18 November 2007. Meeting at 9am, Travis Wetland Education Centre, Beach Rd, Burwood, Christchurch A one day conference has been called to enable NZERN members to get together to discuss where NZERN is headed. It is open to all NZERN members. Priorities for discussion will be finalised on the day by participants but will include: - Demonstrations of how easy it is to logon to the website, update personal details, change passwords and use the forums. - A review of the suggestions made at the 2007 Restoring the Drylands Conference and the planned 2008 Conference on Rural Restoration. - Organising Field Days using the $10,000 funding recieved. - Regional Editors, editorial standards and information cataloging. - Improvements to Kereru, using the Events Manager to update the calendar. - Improvements to PlanterGuide. - Membership recruitment, branches, the Help Desk and financing NZERN. - NZERN's constitution and Long Term Plan. Where are we heading? Are we still on the right track? How can we get there? How can we pay for it? How can we adapt in a changing information environment? Are we meeting users needs? Are we functioning as an effective national society? Are we all familiar enough with the business of the organisation - if not, how can we be? Agenda 8.30am: Set up meeting room 9am: Welcome 9.10am: Discussion 12 noon: Lunch 1pm: Discussion continues 4pm: AGM. 5pm: End This conference will celebrate NZERN's 10th birthday and the completion of PIPI4. There will be plenty of cake. Tea and coffee will be provide. Please bring a plate of food for a shared lunch. All members are encouraged to use the various forums to express opinions and raise issues that they want discussed at the conference. A laptop, internet connection, data projector and electronic whiteboard will be available to participants.
